Joseph M. Fein, Esq., Senior Affiliated Attorney

Joseph M. Fein is a 1994 graduate of Yeshiva University’s Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. His extensive experience as a litigator began as an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County and later on as Deputy General Counsel for New York City Off-Track Betting Corp.

In 2004, Joseph opened his own legal practice focused on special education advocacy and litigation. As the father of a special needs child, Joseph understands the unique challenges facing our parents. Joseph is fluent in Hebrew.

Deborah Ezbitski, Esq.

Deborah began her legal career over 25 years ago as a trial attorney with the Criminal Defense Division of The Legal Aid Society in New York City. She was also the Division’s Director of Training and Staff Development.

Both her professional interest in learning and her personal experience with special education brought her back to the practice of law and to representing parents of children with special needs.

Fredericka Bashir, Esq.

Fredericka Bashir, holds an AB from the University of Michigan Honors College, a JD from the University of Michigan Law School and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. Fredericka is admitted to practice law by the New York State Bar and is admitted to the Federal Bar of the Eastern District of New York.

A former Kings County Assistant District Attorney and Borough Director of the Children’s Law Center, Fredericka has over twenty-five (25) years of experience as a civil and criminal litigator in New York Family, Criminal, Supreme and Appellate Courts.

Fredericka is currently owner and principal of the Law Firm of Fredericka P. Bashir, Esq. where she specializes in representing adults and children in complex custody and child welfare litigation including infant death, “shaken baby,” Munchausen syndrome, sex trafficking and domestic and international parental kidnapping cases.

Fredericka is a member of the Screening Committee for the Appellate Division Second Department’s Office of Attorneys for Children’s Assigned Counsel Panel and Board Treasurer and Director of Finance and Development of Brooklyn Legal Services.

A zealous advocate with a direct “no nonsense” approach, Fredericka is regarded by her clients as a champion of client’s rights and by her colleagues and the judiciary as a formidable and unrelenting adversary.

Kimberly Coleman Tavares, Esq.

Kimberly graduated magna cum laude from Fisk University in Nashville, TN, with a B.A. in English and a concentration in French. She obtained her J.D. from Tulane Law School in New Orleans, LA and has been practicing law for over 11 years.

She is admitted to practice in the States of CA and NY. Kimberly has appeared and litigated cases before the CA Workers Compensation Board; NY State Workers Compensation Board; Los Angeles County Superior Court, NY Supreme Court and the Third Department Appellate Division.

Her commitment to the equality of education for all children led to her practice of Special Education Law. As a consummate professional and seasoned litigator, Kimberly is committed to assisting parents in their struggle to obtain access to a quality education for their children.
